Abstract

The near infrared (0.5–1.5 eV) photoinduced absorption spectra of powder samples of YBa 2Cu 3O 6+x with x ranging from 0.1 to 1.o were measured in the 4.2–300 K temperature region. A sharp band at 1.12 eV was found in undoped material. The data obtained are discussed in relation to suggested kink (soliton) formation in YBa 2Cu 3O 6+x.
