Abstract

AbstractNickelocene Ni(π‐C5H5)2 reacts with triethylphosphite in dioxane at 50–70° to give Ni[P(OC2H5)3]4. Kinetic studies confirm a third‐order rate law for this ligand substitution process with the activation parameters Ea = 6.8 kcal/mole and ΔS≠ = −53.8 e. u. The mechanistic implications of these results are discussed.
