Abstract

1. Oxidation ofα-hydroxycyclohexyl radicals in the temperature range 26-114°C takes place with rate constants of (0.4-2)·1010liters/mole'sec and observed activation energy of 20 kJ/raole.α-Hydroxycyclododecyl radicals react with2 at 95°C with a rate constant of 2·106 liters/mole· sec. 2. In liquid cyclohexanol and cyclododecanol, theα-hydroxycycloalkylperoxyl radicals formed are quenched as a result of spontaneous decomposition with rate constants of 1010·7 exp (−43 ±10 kJ·mole−1/RT) and 1011.2 exp (-54 ±10 kJ·mole−1/RT) sec−1. 3. In the estimation of the kinetic parameters of the reactions of peroxide radicals formed during pulsed electron bombardment of cycloalkanols in the presence of O2, it is necessary to consider the possibility of a relatively long period of oxidation ofα-hydroxycycloalkyl radicals.
