Abstract

During the last eight years the utilization of monoclonal antibodies (MAb) has changed the concepts of lymphocyte development and the methods for investigating cell kinetics in inflammatory and immunoreactive lymphoid cell populations. In order to establish new concepts on lymphocyte development and function finely dissected observations have been accumulated with the help of the new reagents. The potential chaos of producing and using thousands of MAb under different names has been averted. A relative measure of order has been introduced by three international workshops of MAb standardization (Bernard et al. 1984; Reinherz et al. 1986; McMichael et al. 1987) and also by the acceptance of a uniform CD nomenclature in the scientific community (Table 1).KeywordsMajor Histocompatibility Complex ClassGraft Versus Host DiseaseLymphocyte DevelopmentMajor Histocompatibility Complex AntigenThymocyte DevelopmentThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
