Abstract
The kinetics of reduction of U(VI) with zinc amalgam at H2SO4 concentrations of 0.5–4.0 M, initial UO22+ concentrations of (2.08–40.00) × 10−3 M, and temperatures of 295.0–325.0 K was studied by spectrophotometry. The kinetic scheme of the UO22+ transformation, the rate law, and the reduction rate constants were determined. The activation energy Ea and the thermodynamic functions of formation of the activated complex (Gibbs energy ΔG≠, enthalpy ΔH≠, and entropy ΔS≠ of activation) were calculated.
