Abstract
The rate constants of the reaction of sodium arsenite with chloroacetic acid in mixtures of water with alcohols, acetone, tetrahydrofuran, dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethoxymethane, and 1,4-dioxane at 25°C were determined. By the examples of the reaction of chloroacetic acid with the lithium, sodium and potassium arsenites the effect of the nature of alkali metal hydroxide cation on the reaction rate of Meyer reaction is considered.
