Abstract

The extent of nickel recovery from spent electrodes of nickel-iron batteries in ammonia solutions was studied in relation to time and leaching temperature. The optimal time and the temperature at which the extent of nickel recovery in leaching solutions containing ammonium salts is the highest were determined and the dependence of the process efficiency on the anionic composition of the solution was analyzed. The apparent activation energies of nickel leaching from the active mass preliminarily extracted from lamellas are calculated, and the adequacy to the actual process of the model of leaching controlled by external diffusion is assessed.
