Abstract

A mechanistic kinetic model, which includes several elementary reactions occurring simultaneously, is developed for the kinetics of grafting in solution polymerization. This model allows prediction of the rate of polymerization and grafting efficiency under various reaction conditions. It also permits evaluation of grafting reaction rate constants. Experimental data available in the literature are used to test the model. Very good agreement is observed between the data and model predictions.
