Abstract

The free radical polymerization reaction of methyl methacrylate initiated by the new initiators, bis- and mono-pentazadienes, has been studied. It was found, that the polymerization rate increases with an increase of the donor character of a substituent in aryl moiety. The direct correlation between the number of azo groups in a molecule and a polymerization rate was not observed. The high value of the reaction orders by the initiator indicates the occurrence of side processes.
