Abstract

The presented paper reports the preparation and electrocatalytic activity of nanostructured Co-Aminopyrine catalyst for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in alkaline media. The catalysts were prepared through a nano-SiO2 hard template method along with the high-temperature pyrolysis process. Results of electrochemical characterization, which was performed using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) employing a rotating disk electrode (RDE), with emphasis on the activity of the catalyst are presented. The electrochemical property was found to depend strongly on the pyrolysis times. The Co-Aminopyrine pyrolyzed twice (Co-Apr-2), with onset potential at 0.15V and half-wave potential at 0.05V, showed much better catalytic activity than Co-Aminopyrine pyrolyzed just once (Co-Apr-1).
