Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the kinetics of transmission of Chagas disease by oral and intraperitoneal route, using the Y strain of Trypanosoma cruzi from different lineages. Methods: The Y strain of Trypanosoma cruzi , consisting of slender trypomastigotes was used. Animals infected groups were inoculated orally and intraperitoneally with 1x10 6 blood trypomastigotes. The parasitemia were performed by tail blood collection 5μL of each animal experimentation, every two days, and the number of parasites in 50 microscopic fields quantified. Results: In analyzing the parasitaemia curves made from the infection of the animals was observed a peak for the two groups in question about the 7th day of infection. However, when analyzing the quantity of parasites per ml of blood can observer a reduced amount of parasites to the group of animals infected by the oral route compared to infected intraperitoneally. Conclusion : From the results shown by parasitemia, we conclude that when comparing the two routes of infection of the disease, intraperitoneal infection shows parasitaemia greater by the host.
