Abstract

The influence of reaction conditions on enantioselectivity in the Ru II-(binap)-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of allylic alcohols is discussed. This work highlights the importance of considering kinetic influences in addition to the stereochemical aspects of the chiral catalytic environment in interpreting catalytic behavior in asymmetric hydrogenation reactions.
