Abstract
A study was made of the effect of 60Co γ-rays on solutions of acrylonitrile in polydimethylsiloxane. The kinetics of the reaction were studied dilatometrically, and it was found that the results are in many ways similar to those obtained by other workers for the polymerization of acrylonitrile in aqueous solution. A theoretical interpretation similar to that given for the aqueous solution reaction is offered.
