Abstract

The specific features of the kinetic concept as applied to the prediction of the lifetime of rubber parts are considered. The theoretical and experimental data on the lifetime of rubbers under uniaxial tension, combined stresses, dynamic loading with a dominant tension, and dynamic loading in the presence of a static component are analyzed consistently. Attention is drawn to the fact that standard methods can also be used to determine the strength characteristics of rubbers. It is emphasized that the methods and programs described in this paper are developed for applied purposes.
