Abstract

The main laws of formation and growth of scale on the metal of superheaters of steam boilers firing oil fuel are studied. Electron microscopy is used to determine the composition, location, and thickness of the scale. It is shown that oxidation of the metal is a composite heterogeneous process and that the growth of scale is describable by equations of three-component diffusion.
