Abstract

In the present study pure and mixed crystals of tartrate, compound has the variety of application in the different field of science and technology. The growth observation of CaCd mixed Levo-tartrate crystals was grown by room temperature single diffusion gel growth technique. Silica hydrogel was the growth medium and dendrite crystals were obtained at the gel liquid interface. Crystals having shiny white colour and spherulitic morphology were grown within silica gel, and more no. of crystals were grown at a gel-liquid interface. X-ray diffraction established grown crystals to be hexagonal in nature. The effect of mixed crystals CaCd was studied using TGA. It also shows that sample stable up to 100 °C and then decomposition up to 800 °C and various solid state reaction i.e. activation energy Eg, frequency factor (A). Standard activation entropy (Δ‡S°) was calculated out to find the mechanism of thermal decomposition at different stages of crystals. The crystals were characterized by Thermogravimetric analysis and Kinetic as well as thermodynamic parameter were evaluated for the various stages of decomposition.
