Abstract

We present new constraints on lagging atomic halos in the edge-ons NGC 4244 and NGC 4565 from recent WSRT data. In NGC 4244, any possible lag is limited to −1 kpc −1 up to z = 2kpc, while NGC 4565 may have a lag of ∼10km s −1 kpc −1 , up to z = 2kpc, but only at about R ≤ 3′. These small lags in galaxies with little star formation may disagree with recently reported trends for extraplanar ionized gas in three edge-ons.
