Abstract

The kinematics and geometry of the finger follower valve gear used in three engines on the European market have been analysed. The results of the analyses disclose some features that are common to all the designs and which may be related to features in the patterns of wear observed in the engines. The effects of various changes in the geometry of one of the engines have been investigated.
