Abstract

An analytical solution for kinematic flow on a curved surface is presented for a specific rainfall. This solution is used to analyse the solutions obtained on a kinematic cascade. An illustration is given using a simple curved surface which allows algebraic manipulation. The formation of a shock wave, and the determination of its correct position are also illustrated. The present solution can be used to improve the choice of a cascade to minimise the errors introduced by this approximation.
