Abstract

This book, as it is presented, is a very complete compilation of surgical diseases with diagnostic steps necessary in recognizing them. This is part one of a two-part book; the second volume, as yet unpublished, will deal with surgical therapy. In the forward of the book the author sets forth his purpose to compile, in as simple a form as possible, the various diseases one sees in the surgical care of children. He has noted in his forward that he has chosen the method of instructive rather than a comprehensive description as a more practical guide to the practicing physician. He states that he has omitted theoretical explanation and embryology of the abnormalities as well as any bibliography or literary citation so that it will remain a simple, practical manual for the practicing physician. The volume is quite comprehensive in its coverage of surgical diseases of childhood from the
