Abstract

Objective: Knowledge about HPV infection for male is still limited in Vietnam. The study aimed to describe the knowledge about prevention of HPV infection among parents of male students in Hue city and to identify some related factors. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2020, and 785 parents of male students from four secondary schools in Hue city were interviewed directly with a structured questionnaire. Multivariate logistic regression model was used to identify the related factors. Results: 18.9% of participants showed good knowledge about prevention of HPV infection. Educational level, occupation, number of sons and family history of HPV related diseases were factors related to knowledge about HPV infection prevention (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study highlighted that knowledge about HPV infection prevention among parents of male students in Hue city is still poor. Health education and communication should be strengthened to improve their knowledge about prevention of HPV infection.
