Abstract

IntroductionTraumatic dental injuries (TDIs) of permanent teeth are challenging for interdisciplinary dental treatments. Emergency treatment determines long-term success. According to current guidelines the preservation of teeth and minimally invasive procedures are of major importance to keep all options open for later treatment. Restorative treatments are part of follow-up. However, they play an important role for long-term success of tooth structure and hard as well as soft tissues. There is special focus on adjunctive orthodontic or surgical therapy that improve the prognosis of prosthodontic rehabilitation.MethodThe case presentation describes the forced extrusion technique using mini screws and the restorative treatment of a fractured central incisor in the maxilla step by step.ConclusionOrthodontic extrusion is tissue friendly and in combination with skeletal anchorage a predictable and reliable treatment option.
