Abstract

Congenital infection of cytomegalovirus (CMV) of neonates and perinatal infection in preterm infants could be hazardous, especially for very low birth weight (VLBW) infants.Some permanent sequelae might occur in most symptomatic congenital infection and severe perinatal infection cases.However, most of the CMV infection in neonates is subclinical.It is still important to take appropriate measures to deal with different neonatal CMV infection situations.This article was focused on the epidemiology of neonatal CMV infection, clinical characteristics after infection, diagnosis of the pathogen, indications for treatment and the methods for processing the breast milk with virus.
