Abstract

For several weeks the world was riveted by Fukushima nuclear disaster. The risk from radiation and long-lived radioactive particles remain, and the world reaction about the future of nuclear energy development varies in each country in term of its interest. The bottom line is that the challenges remain high, the risks remain significant, and the inherence risks of nuclear technology for civilian or military purposes still need our constant vigilance. There are fifty two countries that have nuclear power plant nowadays, and before the disaster, several countries plan to build nuclear power plant in the future. Nonetheless, all of them have a different action responding to the Fukushima nuclear disaster. German is a country which has already responded by having a scenario to close their nuclear power plant gradually until 2022. Now, 23% of German's energy need is supplied by nuclear energy. And there are several countries which are abandoning their plan to build nuclear power plant as their energy options, and trying to cancel their nuclear power plant in their energy mix. In Japan, base on a survey held in three months after the disaster, most people are asking the Japan Government to close their nuclear power plants. And Japan Prime Minister was calling for phasing out nuclear power. The responses around the world will create the need of energy alternative to increase energy source options as a proper substitute for nuclear energy. Most of the people in the world observe that renewable energies (such as Solar, Wind, Hydro, Bio energy, etc) are being the most possible energy to replace the nuclear energy in the future. However, the renewable energy has not yet achieved its economic price. The experts predict that the price of renewable energy will compete with fossil energy starting 2020. Before that time, the need of fossil energy will increase sharply and the market price will automatically increase. On the other hand, the countries which have abundant fossil energy resources will reduce their export by decreasing their production and allocating their reserve as Strategic Energy Reserve. This condition will generate a difficulty for countries importing their energy need or buying it from the free-market. Moreover, it will push up the energy price in the market. In line with this condition, surging fossil energy price will make the price of renewable energy economically acceptable. And also development of Clean Coal Technology will be pushed up by increasing of coal consumption, since burning the coal will produce CO <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</sub> emission if using conventional coal technology. It is unreasonable for every country in the world to not revise their Energy Scenario post the Fukushima disaster. The World Energy Scenario will evolve automatically and every country has to be ready to adopt The New World Energy Scenario.
