Key stages in the creative biography of Vasily Sheshunov — “the singer of the Ussurian taiga”

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to reconstruct the main biographical stages of the creative path of Vasily Sheshunov, a Far Eastern artist, student of Ivan Shishkin and Arkhip Kuindzhi. Because of the lack of study of the topic, this goal seems relevant. The historical and biographical method was used as the main method. In conclusion, it is concluded that the work of V.G. Sheshunov reveals the influence of I.I. Shishkin, which refutes the notion that he actually did not leave behind followers. At the same time, the artist's landscapes are of independent interest; they are characterized by lyricism, precise drawing, interesting compositional construction, detailed elaboration of the theme of the Ussuri nature. Целью данной статьи является реконструкция основных биографических этапов творческого пути Василия Григорьевича Шешунова, дальневосточного художника, ученика И.И. Шишкина и А.И. Куинджи. В силу малоизученности темы данная цель представляется актуальной. В качестве основного был использован историко-биографический метод. В заключение делаются выводы о том, что творчество В.Г. Шешунова обнаруживает влияние И.И. Шишкина, что опровергает представление о том, что он фактически не оставил после себя учеников. В то же время пейзажи художника представляют и самостоятельный интерес; им свойственны лиризм, точный рисунок, интересное композиционное построение, детальная разработка темы уссурийской природы.
