Abstract

Abstract Efficacy and safety of various treatment regimens for asthma andchronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) were hot topics atthe American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST) Annual Meeting.Numerous abstracts were presented that compared select long-termcontroller medications for the management of these pulmonary conditions.For COPD, data on withdrawing inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) inpatients with severe disease gained a lot of attention, as did robust datawith the use of tiotropium (Spiriva Respimat—Boehringer Ingelheim)for the management of asthma in pediatric and adult patients
