Abstract
Iron is the main nutrient and plays a key role in many processes, including growth and development. Iron deficiency in infants is associated with a wide range of clinical manifestations and the development of severe complications, including psychomotor deficiency, delayed maturation of the hearing aid, as well as memory and behavioral disorders. The most vulnerable to the formation of postnatal iron deficiency is premature newborns. No less threatening was the condition of excess iron, which is potentially dangerous for the child's organs. Details are given of the risks of iron deficiency and excess iron in premature babies. The article discusses the key issues of the feasibility of iron supplementation for premature infants, beginning with the period of stabilization of growth, as well as the dose, duration and types of correction. Among the recommended measures are the elemental iron Innofer baby® and hematopoietic vitamins Innovitum B®.
