Abstract

The problem occurs when the behavior of adolescents is often influenced by their parents. The aim of the research is to look at the relationship between well-being in parents and problems related to behavior carried out by adolescents. The participants in this study consisted of 142 parents (both fathers and mothers) of students at SMP X and Y in Situbondo. Research participants were asked to fill out a welfare scale (Pemberton Happiness Index) and parenting style (Parenting Style and Dimension Questionnaire). The participants were also asked to rate the level of behavior of the teenagers with the Strengths & Difficulties Questionnaire scale. The results of the study show that authoritative parenting is a link between parents' well-being and problematic behavior experienced by adolescents. More specifically, prosperous parents will adopt an authoritative parenting style, thus contributing to a decrease in problematic adolescent behavior.
