Abstract

By measuring the 35Cl nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) spectra it is shown that AsCl3, like SbCl3, is able to form crystalline complex compounds with aromatic hydrocarbons. Investigation of the freezing-point diagrams reveal the existence of the following compounds: 2 AsCl3 · CeH6; 2 AsCl3 · C10H8; 2 AsCl3 · (C6H5) 2CH2; 2 AsCl3 · p-C6H4 (CH3)2; 2 AsCl3· C6H5C2H5 and AsCl3 · C6H5C2H5. The 35Cl NQR spectra of these compounds are given and compared with the NQR spectra of the analogous SbCl3-complexes.
