Abstract

Four surveys were conducted on different animal groups in the metropolitan area of Perth. Microsporum canis was the only fungus isolated from cats and was prevalent in these animals. Dermatophyte infections in dogs were less common and were caused by M. canis. M. gypseum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes. T. mentagrophytes was isolated from laboratory guinea pigs but not from native animals.
