Abstract
Perturbations of a satellite’s orbit due to harmonic perturbing forces are computed using a new technique. Special attention is paid to resonances resulting from the satellite’s orbital period being commeasurable with the period of the perturbing force. The results are tested, numerically, using perturbations due to sectorial and tesseral harmonics of a rotating primary. This is the first article explicitely demonstrating the time-dependent version of the technique.
