Abstract
This commentary by a youth leader from Mexico discusses the impacts of the current economic system (neoliberal capitalism) on the social and environmental conditions of the planet. It reflects on the finite resources of the planet and explores why keeping the 1.5ºC goal of the Paris Agreement alive is a matter of life or death in the Global South. The countries of the Global South are the most exposed to natural disasters, have the least capacity to adapt, and have the most difficulty recovering from losses.
