Revealing the complexities of Native representation, Katrina Phillips’s (Red Cliff Ojibwe) Staging Indigeneity offers new insights into historical outdoor dramas based on Native history. Phillips coins the term salvage tourism to investigate three dramas – Happy Canyon, Unto These Hills, and Tecumseh! – and their changing relationships to local economies.
