Abstract

In this study, the effects of different nitrogen (0, 6, 12, 18 ve 24 kg/da) and phosphorus (0, 4, 8, 12, 16 kg/da) levels on Kate A-1 and Marmara-86 bread wheat varieties were investigated from 1994 to 1997. Preceding crops were maize in Sakarya, and sunflower in Pamukova. Within the trials, spikes per m2, plant height, spike length, biomass at harvest, harvest index, 1000 kernel weight and hectoliter weight which are the yield components of wheat, and grain yield were measured. The effect of phosphorus was significant for spikes per m 2 , plant height, biomass at harvest and hectoliter weight. There was no effect of phosphorus levels on yield, spike length, harvest index and 1000 kernel weight. However, effect of nitrogen on the same components was significant. It was found that, higher nitrogen levels increased spikes per m2, plant height, spike length, biomass at harvest and yield, and decreased harvest index and 1000 kernel weight. Also, fertilizer levels necessary for high yield and net profit were discussed.
