Abstract

Summary A 48-year-old asymptomatic woman with bilateral cataracts after three years following total thyroidectomy operation due to multinodular goitre was presented. Long term complications of chronic hypocalcemia are not often seen in primary care settings. However, the patients who had thyroidectomy should be checked for hypocalcemia periodically for long term complications as has occurred in this case. And also the patients presenting with cataracts should be monitored for hypocalcemia and other associated metabolic diseases.
