Abstract

Abstract Church Passage Rites in the Public: Interactions and Networks in the Space Between. Church passage rites today transgress the borders between church internal matters and privatized faith on the one hand and the public sphere and common patterns of individual interests on the other. From the example of activities around mourning and funerals, the work of pastors and congregations today is that of one player among others. In the local public, church activities become relevant when they are performed in a way which encourages the relational and interactive potential in a cooperative network.
