Abstract

Karstic springs downstream of the high Oymapinar Dam, Turkey, which is under construction, were a cause of concern for eventual leakage of the Oymapinar Reservoir. Springwater temperatures were evaluated to indicate the depth of circulation and, implicitly, the extent of karstification. The evaluation of the temperature record, coupled to the interpretation of the spring recession hydrograph, is used to formulate the hypotheses for the recharge areas of the springs, transmissivity of the system, size of the system, and hydraulic regime of the springs.
