Abstract
Due to the unique geological structure and function of karst terrains, karst areas can be found all throughout the world, particularly in areas where there is a lot of human activity, pose a risk to people's lives, health, and welfare, as well as infrastructure. This study is to review karst landscapes in Indonesia based on potential disaster and mitigation approaches. This review benefits to give information and knowledge so that people and all stakeholders care more about karst landscapes in Indonesia. We have summarized from some literature about the potential disaster in the karst landscapes in Indonesia and some of the disaster mitigation acts in the karst landscapes either that have been implemented in Indonesia or ideas that are adapted from disaster mitigation in the karst landscapes from around the world. The potential disaster in the karst landscapes in Indonesia includes drought, land subsidence, flooding, and water contamination. While the disaster mitigation acts that potentially were developed in Indonesia include land subsidence mapping, flood inundation mapping, groundwater management, and water treatment.
