Abstract
Karol Wojtyla, John Paul II, is a Polish philosopher who as a man of letters and a churchman has managed to combine an extraordinary spectrum of activities within a single life. Amid his duties he found some time to participate in the phenomenological movement. His philosophy, although modest in written output, took on a particular significance when he became the universal pastor of the Roman Catholic Church in 1978. This philosophy merits attention as the founding and inspirational force of his papal teaching—his contribution to the authoritative magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church.
