Abstract
MILITARY ACTIONS ON THE BORDER BETWEEN THE DUCHY OF COURLAND AND LITHUANIA AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GREAT NORTHERN WAR (SEPTEMBER 1701–MAY 1703) The article dwells on the events of the Great Northern War (1700–1721) related to the Duchy of Courland. It focuses on the warfare in a particular region, the border area between the Duchy of Courland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, from the entry of the Swedes into the Duchy of Courland in the summer of 1701 to the spring of 1703, when the Swedish governor, Karl Magnus Stuart, left Courland. The article is based mainly on the historical sources stored in the Latvian State Historical Archive.
