Abstract
An opinion piece on the February 2021 election of Karim Khan from the UK as the new Prosecutor at the ICC (succeeding the current ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda). I argue that the symbolism that Khan as a lawyer of South Asian origin brings to the Office of Prosecutor may change India’s dogged resistance to joining the ICC and in this context, I discuss the role of the ICC in international criminal justice.
