Abstract

Characterization of mefenamic acid- s-cyclodextrin inclusion compexes by freeze drying method had been studied state mefenamic acid – s-cyclodextrin inclusion complex orepared by freeze drying method in 1; 1 molar ratio. Mefenamic acid, s-cycloexrin, mefenaic acid – s- cyclodexrin physical mixture and inclusion complexes were characterized by Powder X-ray Diffraction (FXRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Differential Thermal Analyzer (DTA) and dissolution studies. The results showed the formation of inclusion complex between mefenamic acid and s-cyclodextrin. In vitro dissolution rate studied of mefenamic acid – s-cyclodextrin physical mixture and inclusion complex were conducted using basked method and water as dissolution medium Mefenamic acid – s-cyclodexrin inclusion complex showed increasing dissolution rate compared to mafenamic acid-s-cyclodextrin physical mixture and mefenamic acid.
