Abstract

Defecation disorder diarrhea (bowel movements) that lasts for 3 times in a day in a row. The administration of the probiotic Lactobacillus plantarum Dad-13 which is isolated from curd fermentation and can inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of probiotic bacteria indigenus powder Lactobacillus plantarum Dad-13 and the antagonist properties of bacteria against the growth of bacteria that cause diarrhea Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. This study used a Randomized Complete Design (RAL) with 3n treatments, namely 5 tests, a concentration treatment of 100% Lactobacillus plantarum Dad-13 powder, a positive control of metronidazole 500mg as a comparison and negative control of aquades using the Kirby-bauer method (disk diffusion) and characterization by conducting macroscopic tests with visual observations and microscopic tests by observation under a microscope. The results of this study showed that probiotic bacteria powder Lactobacillus plantarum Dad-13 have characteristics with a round colony shape, white color, gram-positive bacteria, stem colony shape or bacillus with negative catalase. Probiotic bacteria powder Lactobacillus plantarum Dad-13 is able to inhibit the growth of diarrhea-causing bacteria with an inhibitory diameter at 24 hours of 3 mm with a weak category and at a time of 48 hours of 7.6 mm with a moderate category in medium Escherichia coli bacteria in Staphylococcus aureus the diameter of the inhibitory power both at 24 and 48 hours is 3 mm with a weak category. And the results of the SPSS test version 25 for windows with the One way Anova test with a result of p=0.00 (p<0.05) and the duncan test with the results of each experiment showed the difference of each treatment with a test level value of 5%.
