Abstract

Plain Language SummaryHearing loss leads to difficulty in carrying out conversations in our day-to-day life. It causes struggle in interacting with others, limiting social circles, and leading to loneliness. Audiologists can help manage hearing loss for individuals with hearing loss and provide them with social, emotional, and to an extent psychological support. A KAP questionnaire has been developed and used in the present study. The extent to which audiologists can address such needs is highlighted in the Indian context. Lack of time, practice, and evidence have been identified as obstacles in helping individuals with hearing loss. The knowledge, attitude, and practice of audiologists in their clinical settings have been determined, and appropriate referrals and counseling have been suggested.
