Abstract

Objective To observe the efficacy,toxicity and influence on quality of Life (QOL) of Kang'ai injection combined with gemcitabine for elderly patients with advanced stage non-small cell lung cancer.Methods Fifty-eight patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer were randomly divided into two groups:treatment group (n =30) received Kang' ai injection and chemotherapy,and control group (n =28) only accepted chemotherapy.Results The effective rates of treatment and control group were 35.7% (10/28) and 32.1% (9/28),the difference between the two groups was not significant (P > 0.05).The toxicity was lower in treatment group than that in the control group (P <0.05),and the QOL was improved significantly (P < 0.05).Conclusions In treatment of elderly patients with advanced stage non-small cell lung cancer,Kang' ai injection combined with chemotherapy can improve the effect,reduce the toxicity and improve the QOL.
