Abstract

Adolescence is a period of transition from childhood into adulthood, characterized by heightened emotional reactivity and sensitivity to peer evaluation and acceptance. This article makes a case for integrating social and emotional learning (SEL), mindful and compassion training with systems thinking to create a learning experience that is meaningful for adolescents and connects their psychosocial need for identity, autonomy, and intimacy with a broader purpose to help them become responsible global citizens committed to the well-being of self and others.
