Abstract

This article tells the story of how two brothers who are doctors transformed the health of Iranian prisoners by offering advice on basic hygiene quitting smoking dealing with drug addiction and HIV. It discusses how the brothers pioneered a national HIV/AIDS response in Iran that addressed social factors like stigma in addition to medical issues such as access to antiretrovirals.
