Abstract

Several cases of verbal violence against children occur in the surrounding environment. This is the background for parents in Indonesia, to entrust their children's education to Islamic boarding schools because they are considered to be a safe place from acts of violence. This study aims to describe how Islamic boarding schools replace the role of parents in Islamic boarding schools and what kind of efforts are made by Islamic boarding schools in overcoming verbal violence in children. The research was conducted at the Nurussalam Sidogede Oku Modern Islamic Boarding School, South Sumatra. The research uses qualitative methods that focus on the phenomenon of applying the living Qur'an in the field. Data were taken from interviews and written documents from Islamic boarding schools. The results of the study concluded that efforts to overcome verbal violence against children in the modern Islamic boarding school Nurussalam sidogede were: 1) with the existence of a student dormitory, speech, behavior and manners were monitored, 2) there were rules and discipline in Islamic boarding schools based on the Qur'an and hadith, 3) implementing Islamic boarding school values ​​into children, 4) Islamic syar'iyah factors, namely lessons taken in class based on the Qur'an and hadith and then applied in the daily life of students, namely students studying verses of the Koran surah al-hujurat verse 11 regarding the prohibition of verbal violence in the Koran and then the students practice this verse and it influences the students' speech and behavior.
