Abstract
culture is one of the important values to be taught in schools. This is evident from the development of a macro mindset in the 2013 curriculum, one of which is Javanese language learning as an effort to cultivate local cultural wisdom. the use of geguritan contained in the anthologies of Nonton Ronggeng by Wato Tirta is expected to be alternative learning to study the geguritan text in high school. This study aims to describe the local cultural elements of the Banyumas community contained in the geguritan anthology Nonton Ronggeng by Wanto Tirta and their relevance as Javanese language teaching materials in high school. This study uses qualitative research methods with a cultural anthropology approach. The method used is document analysis and interviews. Based on the results of the study, the elements of local culture found in the geguritan anthology Nonton Ronggeng by Wanto Tirta include: livelihood systems namely deres; the traditional game is jonjang; religious system elements namely mimiti pari slametan and sanctification of sacred sites such as the Saka Tunggal Mosque, Kali Bacin, and petilasan in Kebasen Village; and traditional arts, namely dolanan songs, Javanese traditional songs of Banyumas, calung, parikan, ronggeng, ebeg, and dhalang jemblung. The geguritan anthology Nonton Ronggeng by Wanto Tirta is relevant to be used as an alternative to the materials of the text of commotion in the odd class XII high school students.
