Abstract
Contending that the ancient Greek time-frame of Kairos is present in Erikson's early thought, this paper traces the concept from Greece through to modern schools of psychology. It concludes with a brief treatment of Kairotic time in Erikson's early formulation of his epigenetic theory of personality development.
